Haven Warranty’s Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 13, 2021

TL;DR: We collect and use your data to provide better services tailored to you. We will never, ever, sell your data to anyone.

In light of growing concerns about companies misuse of customers’ private data, we watned to take the opportunity to tell you about what types of data we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

Data is vital for digital businesses. In fact, it’s the foundation on which most of the technology we’ve grown to love is built.

We use data to provide better services to you, make your experience smoother, prevent fraud, help our users perform instant changes to their plans, collect payments, and improve our advertising. But, what we don't do, and will never do, is sell your private information.

Formal part

This document sets forth the privacy policy for the Haven Warranty (“Haven”, “company”, “we”, “us” or “our”). The purpose of this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) is to inform you about the types of information we gather about you through our business relationship with you and when you access or use our digital properties, available at www.havenwarranty.com, all related sites and mobile applications we may provide, and via other online submissions by you to Haven Warranty, (together, the “Haven App”), how we may use that information, and the choices you have regarding our use of that information. By accessing our Haven App, you accept our Privacy Policy.

The Information We Collect and How We Use That Information

Self-Reported Data.

During your interactions with the Haven App, including when you provide any self-reported information, Company collects personally identifiable information or other nonpublic personal information from you. The type of self-reported information Company may collect includes, without limitation: First and Last Name; City; State; Address; Zip Code; Work Phone; Home Phone; Email Address and Vehicle Information. We may also collect aggregate, anonymous, statistical data, such as usage, traffic patterns and user demographics based on your self-reported data. We collect this information in order to, among other things, provide you with or assist in the provision of information, services and/or products offered by Company, its affiliates, agents, and vendors by or through the Haven App.

When you submit information to us, you agree to receive email, direct mail and other forms of communications from us and those to whom you have authorized us to forward your Personal Data. If you would like to not receive promotional or marketing material from us in the future please contact us at the information provided below. Your decision to not receive promotional or marketing materials shall not preclude us from communicating with you regarding your existing or past relationship with us and shall not preclude us, including our employees, contractors and other representatives, from accessing and using the information you have provided in a manner that is permitted by law (such as using aggregate or anonymous form data). If you do not wish to receive further communications from any person or entity to whom we have forwarded your information, you must contact them directly.

Usage Data

Our systems may record Usage Data as you use the Haven App. For example, our servers automatically record Usage Data that your phone transmits when you use our Haven App. We also may automatically collect Usage Data about how you access and interact with the Haven App through the use of automated tracking technology.

Cookies and clear gifs

Cookies and clear gifs allow us to automatically receive and store certain types of Usage Data whenever you interact with the Haven App. We may use cookies, which are small data files that are transferred to a web browser, which enables our Haven App to remember and customize your subsequent visit. We may also use third party applications, which may use cookies, to gather and analyze information about your browsing activities on the Haven App.

Cookies and other user tracking mechanisms (e.g., local shared objects), by themselves, do not tell us your email address or other Personal Data unless you choose to provide this information to us by, for example, registering at the Haven App. However, once you choose to furnish us with Personal Data, this information may be linked to the data stored in the cookie or other tracking mechanisms. We may use cookies and other user tracking mechanisms, including “persistent cookies”, which will remain on your computer even after you close your browser, to understand Haven App usage and to improve the content and offerings on the Haven App. We may use cookies to personalize your experience at the Haven App and to save your password in password-protected areas. We also may use cookies to offer you products, programs, or services. While most browsers are set to accept cookies and other tracking devices by default, you can set yours to refuse tracking devices or to alert you before accepting them. However, by disabling tracking devices, you may not have access to the entire set of features on the Haven App. Please refer to your browser’s and phone instructions to learn more about these functions.

Additionally, we may use clear gifs (for example provided by Google Analytics or Facebook), which are single-pixel, electronic images embedded in the Haven App that allow us to gather information about your browsing activities on the Haven App. We may use clear gifs to improve your experience with the Haven App, including to provide you with content customized to your interests and to understand whether users read email messages and click on links contained within those messages so that the Haven App can deliver relevant content. Our clear gifs may collect some contact information (for example, the email address associated with an email message that contains a clear gif).

Log Files

Like most internet companies, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files, which contain information such as, among other things, IP addresses, browser type, operating system, ISP, date/time stamps and referring pages. Among other things, this information allows us to track statistics and trends on an aggregate basis.

Disclosure of Information to Third Parties

We share Self-Reported Data and Usage Data with third party service providers that assist us with hosting, maintaining and analyzing online activity on the Haven App, processing payment card information, marketing our services, and managing our daily business operations. We share only the minimum amount of Self-Reported Data with these service providers that they need to perform their tasks.

These third parties may include, but are not limited to: (i) vendors; (ii) retailers; (iii) marketers and advertisers, including without limitation e-mail marketers, (iv) our current and future corporate affiliates (which means a parent company, any subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies under common control).

We may also disclose the information to investors, potential investors, business partners and others. To the extent disclosure of any information as provided herein may not otherwise be permitted by law, by submitting any self-reported information to the Haven App, you consent to such disclosure.

We will notify you in the event we become aware of a security breach involving your “personal data” (as the term or similar terms are defined by any applicable law requiring notice upon a security breach) stored by or for us. If you have not provided a direct mailing address we may notify you by email to the last email address you have provided us.

Opt Out Notice and Opportunity to Opt Out

As described above under the heading “Disclosure of Information to Nonaffiliated Third Parties,” we may disclose your nonpublic personal information to nonaffiliated third parties. If you prefer that we not disclose nonpublic personal information about you to nonaffiliated third parties (other than disclosures required or permitted by law), you may opt out of those disclosures at any time, whether before or after you provide us with any nonpublic personal information. In other words, you may direct us not to make disclosures of your nonpublic personal information to nonaffiliated third parties (other than disclosures required or permitted by law).

Please be advised that if you resubmit nonpublic personal information to us after you elect to opt out, you will have to submit a new opt out request with respect to the resubmitted information. Also, once we provide your nonpublic personal information to a nonaffiliated third party, we cannot control how those third parties will use your nonpublic personal information; as a result, your election to opt out will not affect use by such third parties of previously disclosed nonpublic personal information.
